February 17
Negro History Month- Part 3
John 16:33
Focus: “ I have overcome the world”
We shall overcome but when? Why not now, rather than later? We have been told for 450 years in this country over and over to put our dreams on hold. Repetitively. Get to the back of the line, get to the back of the bus.
The negroes sense of overcoming has never been contingent upon what the government does and does not do. We have overcome. We have made great strides in this country but we can not afford to relax now. Be upright, be honest, be faithful and be true. Read everything you can get your hands on. Sit down and talk to the older folks about how things use to be and get educated.

Negro History Month -Part 2
John 16:33
Focus: “In this world you will have trouble.”
In this life, there is always an antagonist who wants to rob you of your joy. If you’re human, we will come to a point when we will meet someone who will make us think. We can’t do that with the devil.
We often wonder, why is this happening to me? In this life you will have trials and tribulations. Patience brings more trials and tribulations. Lord, help me to endure. Lord, give me the strength.
When I think about the goodness of Jesus and all that He does for me.Take heart. Take courage.

Negro History Month
John 16:33- “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”
Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and Frederick Douglass used the word negro is various times in history. Frederick Douglass concluded in his writing, “The Meaning of Fourth of July for the Negro”, that there is not a Negro problem. The question is can white America be patriotic enough to live up to the rights in the Declaration of Independence and extend these same courtesies to us?
You have enough trouble in your life without being disobedient to God. Take heart means be courageous, take control of your situation. I’ve overcome the world that my Father gave to his wayward son. Lucifer’s job was to watch the mercy seat; not sit on it. Make ordinary into more than a conqueror.
